Project Description

The Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge requested a new building to be designed on site to host a large entomology laboratory paired with a greenhouse. Additional office space was to be included for the organizations growing employee staff. Additionally, the building was to serve as a tool for the organization to utilize for educating the public. Visitor tours are a big part of the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge where they educate the public on the importance of the environment and surrounding wildlife. The design provides adequate interior space to be utilized including a 32-chair presentation room and prime viewing locations of both the laboratory, greenhouse, and its surrounding environment.

A single story, 13,500 square foot, structure designed for the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge located in Rochert, MN. This building serves as the primary entomology laboratory for the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge.
The design includes sleeping rooms directly connected to the lab for researchers to sleep onsite to monitor different ongoing projects. Additionally, a greenhouse is directly connected to the building for researchers to use in conjunction with the laboratory. Employee-based spaces such as administration offices, conference rooms, and a break room are also included for the organizations use. Visitor tours are a big part of the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge where they educate the public on the importance of our environment and wildlife. The entrance of the building is located next to the greenhouse, a popular viewing point for incoming groups. The entomology laboratory serves as a great addition for the employees and researchers to utilize in order to conduct larger research projects. The laboratory can be utilized as a great learning tool with adequate space for visitors to be educated with a presentation room and more than enough open space within providing prime viewing locations of both the laboratory, greenhouse, and its surrounding environment.
