MARVIN WINDOWS COMPETITION HOUSE
MARVIN WINDOWS COMPETITION HOUSE

Project Description
The Marvin Windows Competition project was introduced as the first project for the second semester of fourth year architecture school. Marvin Windows was gracious enough to sponsor this residential design competition each year for the fourth-year class at North Dakota State University. Each student was given three weeks to design a home for their studio professor utilizing and showcasing the use of Marvin Windows throughout. Each design was to integrate itself within an existing neighborhood and work within a $300,000 budget.
Situated on beautiful Rose Creek Golf Course sits a home designed with the client in mind. The backyard opens up to Hole #5’s lengthy fairway featuring one of the courses largest ponds directly in line with the house. The home is constructed of Insulated Concrete Forms and Structural Insulated Roof panels to deliver maximum strength and energy efficiency. Providing a modest 1,700 SF footprint and a spacious three-stall garage, this two-bed two-bath home features an open concept kitchen, dining, and living space. Large Marvin bi-fold and sliding doors open to the backyard pool space for added enjoyment. An unfinished basement is incorporated into the design for future finishing where two additional bedrooms could be added. Take a look and see why this house deserves to catch all eyes in the neighborhood.
